Recruiting Unconference Success
A great event with solid debate and interaction
The event was held on the 30th Floor in the Barclays Tower, Canary Wharf. Having not been to an 'Unconference' before I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was one of the best interactive, learning and networking events I have been to for some time.
Hosted by Bill Boorman (twitter @billboorman), the format was a number of 'tracks' led by track leaders that were essentially discussion and debating sessions on topics covering social media, recruiting technology, blogging and other issues related to the world of recruitment.
Its key strength was the opportunity to share knowledge and ideas as well as listen to the experience of the track leaders. I would also say there was a good mix of interesting people and the whole event was friendly and informative.
I also took part in a filmed debate on Employer Branding under the enticing headline of 'Is Employer Branding Dead'? Presented by Keith Robinson of Career Cast TV and with a panel that consisted of myself, Sue Redden (Peer Group), Martin Cerullo (Alexander Mann) and Janet Davies (New Life Network) we debated the concept of the employer brand, its interpretation and application in today's climate. The show will be broadcast on the internet next Weds (25th) at 11.30pm. I'll post a link up nearer the time.
After the event it was the Recruitment Tweetup, which again was an excellent opportunity to meet a few new faces and put faces to names.
All-in-all an excellent day which was a credit to the organisers, attended by a great bunch of people and I recommend keeping an eye out for the next Unconference in February.
